The Ohio K–8 ESL Vocabulary Practice Test is an interactive formative-assessment tool that generates a new 20-question vocabulary test for each attempt. Students enter their name and complete randomized multiple-choice questions drawn from a broad K–8 ESL vocabulary bank spanning high-frequency, academic, math, science, social studies, ELA, and test-direction vocabulary.
Students receive immediate feedback after each response, including the correct definition, an example of the word in context, its grade band, vocabulary category, and associated curriculum unit. The program maintains a running score and progress indicator throughout the test.
At completion, students receive their score, a list of missed vocabulary words, correct definitions, and recommended curriculum units for further study based specifically on their errors. Results—including the student’s name, score, missed words, recommended units, and completion date—are automatically submitted to a connected Google Form for teacher review. This makes the activity useful for independent practice, formative assessment, progress monitoring, targeted intervention, and identifying vocabulary areas that require reteaching.
