Grammar Tick Tack Toe

The Grammar Tic-Tac-Toe game is a two-player review activity that combines traditional tic-tac-toe with multiple-choice English grammar practice. Before play begins, teachers or students can select the grammar categories they want to review, creating a customized question pool for the game. Questions are shuffled so each round offers a different sequence of practice.

Players alternate choosing squares on the board. Selecting a square opens a grammar question with five answer choices. A correct answer earns the selected square, while an incorrect answer leaves the square open; the turn then passes to the other player. Immediate feedback tells students whether their response was correct before play continues.

The question bank covers a broad range of skills, including parts of speech, nouns, pronouns, articles, adjectives, adverbs, prepositions, verb tenses, subject–verb agreement, modals, question formation, negation, passive voice, conditionals, clauses, and sentence structure. The first player to earn three squares in a row wins. The game is well suited for partner practice, small-group review, learning stations, or whole-class competition, providing repeated grammar practice in an engaging, low-stakes format.
