The Writing Accuracy Checker is a classroom support tool designed to help teachers review ESL student writing for common language errors without assigning a grade. It scans student paragraphs for patterns involving capitalization, mechanics, spelling, subject-verb agreement, article use, confusing word choices, sentence fragments, possible run-ons, and other common ESL writing issues. The tool is intentionally presented as a review aid rather than a comprehensive grammar checker.
Teachers can generate writing prompts connected to any of the 24 workbook units, automatically load the unit's grammar focus, and optionally add suggested target vocabulary. After a student's writing is entered, the program highlights possible issues by category and provides word count, sentence count, average sentence length, vocabulary variety, grammar-target usage, target vocabulary usage, sentence-level notes, and an issue summary.
A copyable report records the student's writing statistics, grammar focus, vocabulary use, and flagged concerns for teacher review or documentation. Because the tool runs entirely in the browser and does not transmit student writing, it is well suited for formative writing assessment, revision conferences, targeted grammar practice, workbook writing assignments, and progress monitoring.
