The ESL Vocabulary Jeopardy game is a teacher-led K–8 vocabulary review activity that turns a large Ohio ESL vocabulary bank into a randomized 30-clue Jeopardy-style board. The game supports 2–6 players and includes a live scoreboard, selectable players, and clue values from 100 to 500 points.
Each board contains six recurring categories: What Does It Mean?, Fill in the Blank, Synonyms & Antonyms, Parts of Speech, Academic & School Words, and Mystery Word. Vocabulary is sorted by difficulty so that higher-value clues draw from progressively more challenging words and, in several categories, provide fewer contextual supports. Each new game selects a fresh set of vocabulary, so the activity can be replayed without repeating the same questions.
During play, the teacher selects an active student, presents a clue, and lets the student respond before revealing the answer. The teacher then marks the response Correct or Incorrect, automatically adding or subtracting the clue value from that student's score. The game suits whole-class review, team competition, vocabulary reinforcement, formative assessment, or an engaging end-of-unit activity.
