The Word Asteroids: Adjectives & Adverbs game is an interactive English–Spanish vocabulary activity designed to strengthen students’ recognition of common adjectives and adverbs. Spanish words appear on incoming meteors while three English choices are displayed below. Students rotate their ship, identify the correct English translation, and fire before the meteor reaches the center of the screen.
The game contains 300 bilingual words organized into focused adjective and adverb categories. Adjective practice includes areas such as size, appearance, feelings, personality, weather, condition, shape, and taste, while adverb categories address time, frequency, place, manner, degree, sequence, certainty, connections, and movement. Teachers can select an individual category for targeted practice or use Mixed Galaxy to combine the entire vocabulary bank.
Correct answers build points and streak bonuses, and the game gradually increases speed after repeated success. Missed words are automatically collected for later review. At the end of play, students receive their score, words identified, accuracy, best streak, and a bilingual review list of missed words. The activity is well suited for independent practice, learning stations, thematic vocabulary review, and reinforcement for Spanish-speaking ESL learners.
